Bomgar has updated its Bomgar Remote Support Platform, added a cloud deployment version and pricing of the platform, and introduced a new Privileged Access Management solution. Bomgar’s technology was also one of the initial pre-certified applications to debut with the ServiceNow Store this week.

The announcements came this week from the secure remote support and access management solutions provider, used by 11 percent of MSPmentor 501 companies in 2014. Here are the details.

Bomgar Remote Support 15.1 represents the most recent update and includes expanded platform reach, improved manageability, and capabilities to streamline support. The release also introduces the Bomgar Secure Cloud, which lets support organizations use Bomgar Remote Support within a cloud deployment model and at the cloud deployment price.

Secure cloud and single-tenant virtual appliances

Bomgar said its Secure Cloud’s segmentation capabilities enable each customer to be allocated a single-tenant virtual appliance with dedicated resources that keeps data separated by customer.

Bomgar Remote Support 15.1 also includes enhancements that improve support performance and manageability. According to the company, these include the following:

  • Enhanced Chat: Increase support performance by more effectively handling multiple concurrent chat sessions.

  • Bomgar Link: Launch remote support sessions from any external application through an embedded link.

  • Extended Canned Scripts: Allow end-users and customers to see scripts run by the support tech.

  • RDP File Copy: Leverage Bomgar’s RDP integration to transfer files between the tech and endpoint using the copy and paste paradigm.

  • Microsoft Windows POSReady Support: Access Windows POSReady 7 devices using a certified support platform.

Privileged Access Management debuts

The Bomgar Privileged Access Management, introduced separately this week, is a solution that lets security pros control, monitor, and manage access to critical systems by privileged users.

The idea is to give these privileged users the access they need to do their jobs, but at the same time to protect high-value infrastructure, assets, and applications from disruptive cyber breaches.

“Within any enterprise, support techs, IT admins, business users, and external vendors are constantly accessing critical systems to keep the business running. Empowering those users with effective access management solutions, while protecting the business from threats is a significant and unceasing challenge,” said Matt Dircks, CEO of Bomgar, in a prepared statement.

“For more than a decade, Bomgar has designed remote access solutions that allow support professionals to keep systems and customers productive, while maintaining the highest levels of security. We’re now using that experience to not only dominate the enterprise remote support market, but also bring a new approach to privileged access management that allows organizations to improve security controls while making privileged users more productive.”
