Remote control software solutions specialist Bomgar today released  Bomgar 13.1, an update that includes new capabilities for the company’s presentation tool, user interface enhancements, and embedded remote app support.

Bomgar 13.1’s new presentation tool capabilities enable users to conduct training meetings and share with other team members. Presenters can also include more attendees with this upgrade.

The new version also provides an integrated dashboard to improve visibility across all support sessions and updated icons and screen layouts throughout the interface to improve the user experience, the company said.

Bomgar 13.1 also features embedded app support for Google (GOOG) Android and iOS apps, delivered in a software development kit (SDK) for application developers, allowing them to embed this capability in any of their Apple iOS or Android apps.

Additional features added in Bomgar 13.1 include the following:

Canned message management — Improved administration and organization of canned messages within Bomgar’s integrated chat tool resulting in faster and more consistent customer communications.

iOS Enterprise App Support — Bomgar can distribute its iOS apps to Apple-hosted Enterprise App Stores, enabling Bomgar’s mobile support functionality within locked-down app environments.

File Transfer Enhancements — Representatives can now delete or rename a file or folder, and view the UNC path of a mapped drive in the remote system, within Bomgar’s file transfer tool.

Private Display Names — Support technicians can have a different customer-facing name appear in the Bomgar display, allowing them to protect personal identifying information.

Bomgar Vice President of Management Troy Harrison said in a prepared statement that Bomgar’s updated remote support improves tech support experience for end users.

“By streamlining the user interface, allowing reps to better collaborate and train through presentations and expanding smartphone and tablet support in Bomgar 13.1, we’re making it even easier for tech support organizations to quickly resolve issues and improve customer satisfaction,” he said.

Separately in June, Sorbis Corp., a managed services provider, selected Bomgar’s secure remote solution to control PC workstations and servers across 80 hotels in Miami and New York.
