VeeamOn 2014: What Channel Partners Need to Know
The Baar, Switzerland-based backup, disaster recovery and virtualization management solutions provider’s “mission is to provide availability for the modern data center and make the Always-On Business a reality for every organization,” says Doug Hazelman, vice president of product strategy at Veeam.
And to accomplish its mission, Veeam is focusing its three-day gathering on providing channel partners with the tools needed to leverage virtualization, storage and cloud technologies to provide more availability in the data center for customers.
Hazelman also suggests to Talkin’ Cloud that even if partners aren’t interested in learning how to leverage the company’s channel program for success, Veeam’s parties are the best in the industry — and that alone is worth attending VeeamOn 2014.
Here’s Talkin’ Cloud’s full interview with Hazelman.
CJ Arlotta: Why should Veeam’s channel partners attend VeeamON?
Doug Hazelman: From the very beginning, Veeam has sold its software 100 percent through the channel. We succeed only if our channel partners succeed. Knowing this, we’ve designed VeeamON to ensure that our ProPartners return home with the tools, knowledge and training they need to increase sales and generate more revenue immediately.
Attendees will learn firsthand about availability technologies from Veeam MVPs, vExperts, partners and customers, as well as how modern virtualization solutions can deliver recovery time point objectives in less than 15 minutes for all applications and data. Educational sessions will cover a wide range of technologies in the modern data center, including virtualization, modern storage and the cloud. ProPartners can participate in technical deep-dives, learn best practices, hear more about viable designs for the modern data center and attend the Veeam User Group sessions. There’s plenty of opportunity for every ProPartner.
Finally, as anyone who has attended our VMworld party knows, Veeam shows its partners and customers a good time. VeeamON will be no exception. On Tuesday night, we’ll take over the Light Nightclub in Mandalay Bay. It’s great networking opportunity, and a night to kick back, enjoy the fun and celebrate our very first industry event.
CJ: What are some key themes partners should pay close attention to at the conference?
DH: Veeam’s mission is to provide availability for the modern data center and make the Always-On Business a reality for every organization. And until now, that level of data center availability has been out of reach for most. Achieving non-stop service and continuous protection has traditionally required a significant investment in fully redundant systems with instant failover capabilities. These kinds of investments could only be justified for a few applications, so the vast majority of workloads are served with lower performing, legacy backup solutions allowing recovery time objectives and recovery point objectives of several hours or days. These low performance levels fail to meet the requirements of the Always-On Business, creating a significant availability gap.
Veeam bridges this gap by leveraging virtualization, new storage integration and cloud capabilities to enable an RTPO of less than 15 minutes for all application and data.
At VeeamON, we’ll demonstrate how Veeam is making the Always-On Business a reality for everyone.
CJ: As a Veeam executive, what are you looking forward to the most at VeeamON?
DH: I’m looking forward most to interacting face-to-face with our partners and customers, both at the formal sessions and at evening parties, and talking with them about data center availability. It’s a very hot topic right now. Executives and employees are used to 24/7 availability from consumer services, and they’re demanding the same thing from their IT people, who have been hard pressed to meet expectations with legacy technologies.
We’ve got a solution to bridge the availability gap that’s not going to break the IT budget. I can’t wait to show it off to our partners and customers.
CJ: How does Veeam define the modern data center?
DH: For starters, the modern data center is highly virtualized, with no more than a handful of physical servers remaining. It has incorporated cloud in a number of ways, from software as a service to cloud computing and cloud storage. And, it must be able to deliver access to information and applications at any time and from any device, with no tolerance for downtime or data loss. The modern data center must make data and applications available to all stakeholders every minute of every day.
Veeam provides five capabilities to enable the Always-On Business: high-speed recovery, data loss avoidance, verified protection, leveraged data and complete visibility. In so doing, Veeam makes 24/7 data center availability a reality.
CJ: What’s going to make VeeamOn different than every other tech conference?
DH: We’re the only technology conference focused on data center availability, and, as I said earlier, that’s a huge issue for IT right now. Veeam understands the challenges of keeping a business up and running at all times. That’s what we’re going to focus on.
And, of course, no one throws a party like Veeam. No one.
