NaviSite Adds Multitenancy, Licensing Relief to DaaS Solution
Cloud-enabled hosting, managed applications and services provider NaviSite has added two new enhancements to its desktop as a service (DaaS) solution that enable multi-tenancy and overcome licensing restrictions. The enhancements include desktop services (RDS) and remote application delivery platform (ADP).
NaviSite has enabled multi-tenant environments for the same prices as dedicated environments. This also helps overcome licensing restrictions.
The enhancements provide the following improvements:
- Cloud benefits — on-demand, scalable, pay-as-you-use shared resources. Users play for concurrent sessions consumed, not by number of users total.
- Reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) — The economic benefits of DaaS over traditional desktops or onsite virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).
- Easy to Implement and Manage — Organizations can add and remove desktops, and provision desktop-based applications to scale based on the immediate needs of the business.
- High Performing and Secure Desktop/Application Delivery — via NaviSite’s NaviCloud infrastructure, housed in state-of-the-art datacenters.
IT can choose to expose the desktop and applications together or to securely display the applications, managing technology asset allocation without hindering operations.
NaviSite Product Management Vice President Chris Patterson said in a prepared statement that IT departments are being challenged to provide businesses with consistent work experiences for employees regardless of device or location.
“NaviSite understands that users have different needs and requirements, which requires different access to applications,” Patterson said. “With these enhancements, IT administrators can determine the user admin rights at the desktop level – based on corporate policy – or at the application level to meet the demands of their mobile and remote workforce, and scale up or down based on need.”
The company launched its NaviCloud Director at the end of August 2013. The VMware vCloud Director 5.1-powered infrastructure as a service (IaaS) offering tas designed to provide cloud-based businesses with a more flexible, customizable, enterprise-class, production-oriented hybrid cloud environment.
