Back in October 2009, we noted that JoomConnect was catching on with ConnectWise users. Now comes word that HTG Peer Groups -- one of the largest organizations for MSPs and VARs -- plans to leverage JoomConnect as part of a website overhaul. So what exactly is JoomConnect? Here's a refresher course.
For the purpose of this blog entry let's assume you use the following two solutions:
- Joomla! -- a free and open modular content management system
- ConnectWise for professional services automation
JoomConnect is an offshoot of Directive Technology Integrators (DTi), an MSP and web design consultancy serving small and midsized businesses in upstate New York. Chris Chase, CEO of JoomConnect, says they tried Drupal, Wordpress, DotNetNuke, and several other free CMS solutions before settling on Joomla!.
The idea for JoomConnect surfaced when Chase’s clients started complaining that they had to remember two separate passwords: a Joomla! login and a ConnectWise login. When one of Chase’s employees presented the idea of integrating the two into a one-click login with synchronized user databases at a conference, he was met with a standing ovation.
The Buzz SpreadsNow, HTG Peer Groups says it has "selected DTi to design and integrate its new website. The updated site, scheduled to launch first quarter 2010, will use JoomConnect to serve as a bridge between its Content Management System and ConnectWise PSA."
The net result: Assuming the HTG effort goes as planned, more than 250 MSPs and VARs will soon leverage JoomConnect.
