Informa Tech’s Jeff O’Heir

One of the best-known names and a beloved figure among MSPs and solution providers, O’Heir joins the Channel Futures editorial team as senior news editor. He will oversee coverage of the managed services industry including MSPs focused on selling into enterprise, midmarket and small business markets along with the key vendors, technology suppliers and distributors who serve this ecosystem. O’Heir assumes this key editorial role where he will be driving the industry-leading Channel Futures MSP 501 list and annual research survey which ranks the world’s top performing managed service providers.

Here’s our list of channel people on the move in February.

O’Heir will also play a central content role in the digital events produced by Channel Futures along with live events that include the Channel Partners Conference & Expo, MSP Summit and Channel Leadership Summit. These events, organized by Informa Tech Channel, are among the industry’s largest gatherings of partners that are vendor and platform neutral.

“I’m so glad to be joining Channel Futures as senior news editor covering MSPs, who we all know are the hardest working, most innovative and fun members of the channel.” O’Heir said. “It is by far the best beat in IT. I’m looking forward over the next few months to reconnecting with all the MSPs and vendors I know from my past jobs and forming new relationships with those I have yet to meet.”

Comprehensive Coverage of Technology and Channel

During an expansive career that has spanned content creator, writer, editor, podcaster, team leader and SEO specialist, O’Heir has earned accolades for his work in the technology and channel industry. After starting his career as a daily news reporter, he joined CRN writing breaking news and in-depth feature stories before leading UBM’s groundbreaking Digital Connect magazine as editor.

He then joined Dealerscope as editor-in-chief where he increased the publication’s visibility, reach, coverage and brand recognition through SEO analytics, social platforms and new digital content. He also spent time at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as a senior content manager, producing content on breakthroughs in engineering, biomedical, additive manufacturing, science, health care, energy, IT, robotics, IoT, industry 4.0 and business. In addition, he created and hosted the ASME TechCast podcast and conducted on-camera interviews. Most recently, the Huntington, New York, native served as event content director and community manager of the ChannelPro Network.

A Unique Perspective

O’Heir’s experience gives his reporting a unique perspective given his understanding of past trends that can be applied to where the channel and partner community is headed in the future. In addition to the Channel Futures MSP 501, O’Heir will also take the reins of numerous lists published by Channel Futures, including the NextGen 101, MSP 501 Fast-Growth, Top-Performing Cloud and Security MSP 501 companies.

“Jeff joins an exceptional content team that is focused on serving partners with objective reporting, analysis and an eye on the future of the industry,” said Bob DeMarzo, vice president of content for Informa Tech Channel. “He will be taking the Channel Futures MSP 501 to new heights while working on some exciting new initiatives we have planned for 2023 and beyond. The addition of Jeff to the team is further proof of Informa’s investment in digital media and the value it places on generating exceptional content.”

“Part of the job that’s especially exciting will be assuming a leading role in the production of Channel Futures’ annual MSP 501 ranking of the top managed service providers in the world,” O’Heir said. “The Channel Futures team is diving deep into this year’s results to deliver greater insights and news around the trends, products, services and business practices that drive profits, revenues, customer growth and smart decisions.”

O’Heir will make his Channel Partners Conference and MSP Summit debut, May 1-4, in Las Vegas, and is already hard at work on the Channel Leadership Summit, Oct. 30-Nov. 2, in Miami.
