Distributor Tech Data has created a new executive position within its mobile unit, and tapped Patrick Stokes to fill the role.

Stokes, vice president of Tech Data Mobile Solutions, is tasked with leading the division’s U.S. strategy, and overseeing efforts including partner enablement and engagement.  

“As we continue to grow the Americas business within the mobile space and leverage our… position in Europe, Patrick’s experience will prove to be invaluable,” said Rod Millar, senior vice president of worldwide for Tech Data Mobile Solutions.

Stokes has worked in mobile telecom for 24 years; he most recently served as president and CEO of Sage Brothers Holdings, a financial firm. He also led Brightstar Corp. the now-joint venture with Tech Data, between September 2009 and April 2011, and has held other top jobs at companies including Verizon and Sprint.
