Duane Barnes is the new director of sales engineering at RapidScale.

RapidScale's Duane BarnesPreviously, Barnes was a cloud specialist at master agent Intelisys, dedicated to partners in the Southeast region. He encouraged sales partners to clearly define the technology and/or business problem that needed to be solved with a cloud service.

He also has held positions with Open-Xchange and Windstream Hosted Solutions (now TierPoint).

“Duane has an impressive background and track record, and we are very excited to welcome him to the RapidScale team,” said Mark Szotkowski, RapidScale’s president of sales. “His understanding of the industry, and new focus on both the sales and engineering sides will allow us to continue driving the client experience and focus on growth.”

In his new position, Barnes is responsible for leading a team of pre-sales engineers, building complex cloud computing services, and providing product marketing support to the RapidScale sales and executive teams. He has more than 18 years of experience working in IT, with expertise in complex data-center services, managed hosting projects, cloud computing, virtualization, storage, networking, disaster recovery, security and more.{ad}

Just last week, RapidScale named Matt Coso, a PaeTec vet, as its new channel manager for the Northeast.
