Openbravo, the open source ERP and POS specialist, at LinuxWorld shared plans to offer better native support for MySQL, the wildly popular open source database. Well, The VAR Guy just got an update on the effort. Here’s the scoop, straight from Openbravo Chief Products Officer Paolo Juvara.
So, here’s the update from Juvara:
Openbravo POS (Point of Sale) supports MySQL today;
Openbravo ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) does not currently support MySQL;
“There is a lot of interest in our Community for MySQL support and we are actually working in that direction (the upcoming release 2.50 lays some infrastructural work for that),” Juvara says;
“There is, however, within Openbravo ERP quite a bit of legacy code which is not compatible with MySQL and it will still take us several releases to complete that work,” adds Juvara.
So that’s the scoop. Sounds like the journey is going to take a bit longer to complete.
