Mirantis and FusionStorm Partner on OpenStack Datacenter Appliances

Mirantis and FusionStorm have partnered on “turnkey” appliances for the OpenStack cloud, saying the collaboration will help lower the barrier to open source cloud adoption.

The partnership centers on validating Mirantis Unlocked Appliances, which combine Mirantis’s OpenStack cloud software with hardware and networking solutions from Dell and Juniper, for FusionStorm’s datacenter solutions. FusionStorm customers will now be able to purchase Mirantis’s appliance products.

FusionStorm and Mirantis have also joined one another’s channel partner programs as part of the deal. FusionStorm is now a member of the Mirantis Unlocked Partner Program, while Mirantis joins FusionStorm’s InfiniStack Solutions.

Mirantis is pitching the partnership as an easier way for enterprises to acquire open source cloud solutions as part of the engineering, deployment and support package offered by FusionStorm.

“Enterprises around the world are evaluating OpenStack, but for some, the barrier to entry is too high. They need a turnkey solution that will be up and running in days, and reliable support for Day 2 operations,” said Mirantis Sr. Director of Solutions Marketing, Jim Sangster. “Mirantis’ select ecosystem of Certified Rack Partners will expand OpenStack’s global footprint. We certified FusionStorm as our second rack partner because of their proven track record in delivering and supporting data center solutions to customers around the world.”

FusionStorm Vice President, Pre-Sales and Professional Services, Core Technologies, Jim Glueck noted the “non-proprietary” nature of Mirantis’s OpenStack distribution in a statement on his company’s partnership with Mirantis. He added, “By working with Mirantis, a pure play OpenStack provider, FusionStorm can offer a full solution to our clients.”
