Microsoft Dynamics: Big Week, Big CRM Competition
Microsoft has declared this to be Dynamics Business Week. The software giant is hosting a series of online conversations centered around their CRM solution and the overall sales cycle. We hear from plenty of VARs that continue to profit from Microsoft Dynamics. But it seems like Microsoft also faces rising CRM and ERP competition from folks like NetSuite, Salesforce.com and SugarCRM. Here are some quick observations.
During Dynamics Business Week, Microsoft will serve up online presentations have titles like “The Era of the Social Customer” and “Making Your Contact Center a Strategic Goldmine for the Enterprise.” It seems like an “all hands on” effort from the Microsoft Dynamics CRM team.
As I said, the timing is noteworthy: open-source Dynamics competitor SugarCRM has been strengthening its channel play, and Salesforce.com is garnering notice with the pending launch of its Chatter social media platform. Moreover, during the April 2010 NetSuite partner conference, NetSuite celebrated multiple channel and customer wins involving migrations away from Dynamics CRM.
I suspect the thinking at Redmond is that if there was a time to gain a CRM foothold in the hearts and minds of VARs, that time is now.
