Something odd has popped up on the Android-radar. A relatively unknown startup company is boasting a new Android tablet stocked to the extreme. The fastest mobile CPU, the most internal storage and a 10-inch screen with a large resolution. But is it too good to be true? Here’s the scoop on the Git Media’s Git Surge and Git Pro Honeycomb tablets …

There’s not much known about Git Media except it’s based out of Brooklyn, N.Y. and it’s currently taking pre-orders for its monster Android tablets. The Git Surge and the Git Pro are outfitted with the Nvidia Tegra 2 and the Samsung Dual Core Exynos CPU, respectively. Both units come with 1GB of RAM, a 10-inch screen with 1280×720 display and a whopping 250GB of space. Git Media has dropped SSDs in favor of regular old HDD, but that also means the company can offer both these tablets at sub-$500 prices.

So why is this channel-related news? Because oftentimes, power users are concerned with the amount of space they have on mobile devices. SSDs are super fast, but the tradeoff is often the size of storage and the price of the device. With a 250GB hard drive, the tablet can store all those movies, music, documents, presentations, high-resolution photos and everything else, eliminating the need for multiple SD cards and offering a virtually unlimited inventory of applications. For VARs and MSPs who often travel, it can also mean your tablet can double as your external hard drive. Quite literally, this tablet has more disk space than my MacBook Air and could hold my entire iTunes library several times over.

In the tablet wars, disk space hasn’t exactly been a competing factor, with many manufacturers offering the same 16GB, 32GB and 64GB silos. But Git Media may have a chance to capture a part of the market that has been previously been tapped — the storage-hungry traveler. That is, if these devices even ship … if they’re even real. Right now Git Media’s “About Us” page is blank and the site has a few interesting typos such as “MRSP” instead of “MSRP.”

Curious … My advice? Hold off on pre-ordering, but stand by. I’ve reached out for a comment. If these tablets really exist, they have the potential to be killer.
