Tangoe Upgrades MDM Platform Amid Bring Your Own Device Craze

Tangoe Inc., which provides communications lifecycle management software and services for enterprises, on Friday released the latest version of its mobile device management (MDM) platform.

The upgrade comes as more enterprise workers and their IT departments share a bring your own device” mentality, which means companies are moving beyond their BlackBerry comfort zones and into the smartphone worlds of Apple and Android. It also coincides with an industry shift away from basic telecom expense management to the more thorough communications lifecycle” approach, which considers wireless and wireline costs, inventory, procurement and more.

Tangoe sells through some agents, systems integrators and other indirect channel partners. The newest edition of MDM features greater device and applications security for the iOS and Android operating systems. Theres also GPS location identification a handy feature for when a device is lost or stolen; individual- and corporate-liable designations, to determine who gets administrative privileges; enhanced concurrent device profiles for overseeing smartphone and tablet device usage; and a redesigned self-service portal.

Tangoe wouldnt reveal commissions or margins ranges for partners selling the MDM product.
