Pivot3 Rolls Out New Ruggedized Edge Solutions
VMWARE VMWORLD — Pivot3, the hyperconverged infrastructure vendor, on Tuesday launched a ruggedized hybrid cloud solution designed to support defense, intelligence and other operations at the “tactical edge.”
The new Intelligent Edge Command and Control solution is optimized for analytics, virtual desktop infrastructure and IoT use cases.
“Whether you’re navigating uncertainty on the battlefield or facing austere environments, effective tactical operations require an IT solution that can weather any storm without compromising performance and ease of use,” said Jeff Forte, vice president, federal sales at Pivot3.
The new offer is designed to help agencies achieve new levels of control and data utilization, he added.
Powered by Pivot3’s Intelligence Engine – which offers priority-and automation-based policy management – the Intelligent Edge Command and Control solution provides NVMe flash performance, security, scale and resilience in a space, weight and power (SWaP)-optimized form factor that’s capable of supporting multiple mission-critical workloads, the company said.
Pivot3 says the Intelligence Engine guarantees performance to critical applications and automates data placement across private and public clouds. The Intelligent Edge Command and Control solution enables policy-based replication, workload mobility and disaster recovery for complementary cloud services.

The design of the new offer is a self-contained computing infrastructure platform that turns vehicles, ships and planes into micro-data centers, with simple, on-demand scalability to expand as needed, the company added.
Earlier this month, Pivot3 reported more than 70 percent growth in the second quarter compared to a year ago.
Earlier this year, Pivot3 announced partnerships with Zerto, VMware and Redington Value. At that time, VMware’s Horizon 7 platform for virtual desktops and applications was made available on Pivot3, providing customers with more density, a reduced footprint and better user experience due to the ultra-low latency NVMe PCIe flash data path, Pivot3 said.
