Verizon Certifies Digi Router

Digi International says its EV-DO Rev. A version of the ConnectPort WAN VPN has been certified by Verizon Communications Inc. Digi says this is the first upgradeable cellular router to be certified on Verizons EVDO Rev. A wireless network; the ConnectPort WAN VPN now is certified by the three major U.S. carriers, according to Digi. The router provides broadband-speed wireless connections to remote sites and devices; it can serve as the primary or backup network connection. Digi sells through distributors.

Digi also just released the ConnectPort X product family, a line of IP gateways that provide seamless connectivity of ZigBee, Wi-Fi, cellular and Ethernet traffic to centralized applications and databases. The ConnectPort X family is augmented by new families of XBee adapters and wall routers that provide end-device connectivity and network extension. www.digi.com

 

Intermec CN3 Approved for AT&Ts Data Network

Intermec Inc.s CN3 mobile computer, shaped like a PDA, has been approved for voice and data transmission on AT&T Inc.s wireless data network. Bundled with software from Cheetah Software Systems, the CN3 lets AT&Ts wireless business customers track pickup and delivery information; obtain signature captures and GPS locations; issue dispatch instructions; and plan routes. GPS technology is built into the CN3; combined with AT&Ts TeleNav Navigator and Track applications, the device provides turn-by-turn directions and mobile resource management for tracking assets, Intermec says. The CN3 runs on the Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system. www.intermec.com

 

Sprint Launches RAZR2 V9M

Sprint has announced the launch of the latest Motorola handset, RAZR2 V9m, which enables users to watch video on the external screen with the flip closed. Utilizing Sprints Power Vision EV-DO network, the RAZR2 will deliver exclusive access to multimedia content including NFL Mobile, Sprint Music Store, Sprint TV, Sprint Power View and Sprint Navigation, powered by TeleNav. The external display incorporates Motorolas haptics technology, which provides users with vibrating feedback in response to their finger taps. SWIFT Mobile Provides Weather Alerts to Mobile Devices

SWIFT Weather has released the new SWIFT Mobile a weather tracking tool designed for use with handheld devices. The software will run on Windows Mobile devices, including Motorola Q, Palm Treo, Samsung BlackJack, and T-Mobile Dash, MDA and Wing. Weather data provided ranges from radar to cloud imagery to tornado warnings. Automatic alerts display on the handheld device and allow a user to learn firsthand of the location of a weather threat and the estimated time of its arrival to a certain location. SWIFT Mobile retails for $7.95 per month for the Standard Edition and $9.95 per month for the Premium Edition and is available for privatelabel sale through wireless dealers. www.swiftmobile.net

 

Varicent, Vaultus Mobile Technologies Announce Partnership

Varicent, a sales performance management provider, announced an alliance with Vaultus Mobile Technologies. With this agreement, Varicent will use Vaultus technology to mobilize its Varicent SPM solution, giving Varicent users the ability to access territory, quota, incentive compensation management (ICM) and performance analytics solutions directly from their BlackBerry smartphones. www.varicent.com, www.vaultus.com

 

Amtel Adds Mobile Usage Policy to TEM Platform

Amtel Inc. announced it is adding a Mobile Usage Policy Module to its TIMS telecom expense management platform, which is sold to enterprises by agents and VARs. TIMS, Telecom Information Management System, previously included a Mobile Procurement Policy Module, which matched user profiles to mobile device and plan bundles. Version 4.0 adds the ability to set and monitor usage policies. According to the company, the new module helps employers specify what services employees can subscribe to and how much they can use and when. At the end of the month, TIMS generates a report that is sent to the user or to the responsible manager. The system requires acknowledgement from the recipient. Companies can set their own policies for warnings, discipline or reimbursement. TIMS is a hosted service and supports corporate accounts with as few as 50 mobile phones. www.amtelnet.com

 

Acision Launches Visual Voicemail

Messaging company Acision announced the launch of Visual Voicemail, a fully integrated graphical multimedia interface designed to enhance mobile voice mail. Visual Voicemail is powered by Acisions uOne convergence platform and has been developed in partnership with Action Engine, The On-Device Portal Company.

Visual Voicemail enables operators to offer simplified and enhanced viewing, playback and management of voice mail, as well as ensuring a seamless evolution to other messaging services through Acisions convergence platform. iSkoots Mobile Software Available on Ericsson P1i Handset

iSkoot announced the iSkoot mobile software is now available on Sony Ericssons newest handset release, the P1i, via a direct download service through the more applications icon in the phones user interface, and is also available from the Sony Ericsson Web site. Sony Ericsson is supporting iSkoot to deliver mobile Skype features to its customers around the world.

iSkoots solution supports the Skype Software, and the collaboration between the two companies will offer Sony Ericsson users on any cellular network the ability to make Skype-to-Skype calls on their mobile phone at the same cost as making a local call (depending on mobile users call plan, normal airtime and data charges may apply), and receive Skype calls at Skypes call forwarding rates for mobile numbers. www.iskoot.com, www.sonyericsson.com
