Theres no official word from Verizon Wireless just yet, but the follow-up to one of the earliest Android smartphone successes the HTC Droid Incredible is due out very soon.

The latest Droid the Incredible 2 is said to come with a 1GHz processor, two cameras, a sizable touch screen and support for roaming in more than 200 countries. Pricing is expected to be consistent with a lot of other high-end smartphones, coming in around $199 if you sign up for a two-year service agreement. A tipster tells CNET youll be able to pick the phone up on April 28; that would be almost one year to the date after the original Incredible made its debut April 29, 2010.

Sales of the original Droid Incredible made it one of the first Android smartphones to become a huge hit. Verizon sold 100,000 of the devices in the first two days it went on sale. It was upgraded to Android 2.2 a few months later, giving it even more of a boost.

Android recently took over the smartphone operating system market share lead in the U.S. from Research In Motions BlackBerry. Android is growing rapidly among general consumers and in the enterprise space.
