HP on Monday enhanced the backup and archival systems in its ConvergedStorage line, putting the products out for distribution via the PartnerOne program.

“Instead of the channel being an afterthought, it was the first thought,” said Patrick Eitenbichler, director of marketing for PartnerOne, echoing HP CEO Meg Whitman’s decree earlier this year that the company put the channel first.

To that point, additions to the StoreOnce Backup and StoreAll Archive systems give partners more products to sell to enterprises and SMBs, said Vish Mulchand, director of product management and marketing. Plus, there’s a new Get Protected guarantee program for the backup products; it is intended to minimize risk when switching from another system and assures a 95 percent reduction in stored backup capacity consumption.

Overall, here are the new introductions:

StoreOnce Backup The highest-end appliance accommodates 1.7 petabytes. There’s also a new security pack that lets customers encrypt applications, restore encrypted data and make sure information is securely deleted. And, there’s application-managed backup with HP StoreOnce Catalyst support for Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) and Bridgehead Software.

StoreAll Archive systems These now feature native OpenStack Object Storage and Identity Service integration to enable cloud storage applications to be developed in the public cloud, then moved in-house for greater security and control. The new HP StoreAll Storage systems aim to cut costs because they feature high density at 1.5 PB per rack and a total of 16 PB to support scale while reducing data center footprint.

Availability on the different pieces of the platforms varies. For example, the HP StoreOnce 6500 Storage systems are expected to be available in January at $375,000. HP StoreOnce Security Pack is available now. HP StoreAll 8800 Storage will be available in February for a starting price of 97 cents per GB of capacity. HP StoreAll 8200 Gateway Storage will be available in February for $34,650. Other components are being released as part of the refreshed product line as well.
