Just over a month since announcing the acquisition of IndependenceIT, CloudJumper, which bills itself as a workspace-as-a-service (WaaS) vendor, on Tuesday announced almost a dozen new features and upgrades in its Cloud Workspace Management Suite 5.2 release. The company also clarified the branding of the now combined CloudJumper and IndependenceIT products.

What was known as CloudJumper’s nWorkspace, also casually referred to as Cloud Workspace, will now officially be known as Cloud Workspace. This is CloudJumper’s full service, or turnkey in-a-box, offering for MSPs. With the IndependenceIT acquisition, CloudJumper will offer the Cloud Workspace Management Suite formerly called the Cloud Workspace Suite by IndependenceIT.

Cloud Workspace Management Suite 5.2 boasts a number of significant new features and enhancements, all designed to help partners, Max Pruger, CloudJumper’s chief sales officer, told Channel Partners.

One of three new major features is the CRA by CloudJumper, a Citrix Replacement App.

CloudJumper’s mission since the company was founded in 2014 has been to migrate users away from Citrix. CRA simplifies these migrations and can be run in place of workloads, saving customers money, time and effort, the company said.

“It’s a simple, three-step process so you don’t have to migrate off of Citrix servers [and] move data centers; you don’t have to do anything — you do it in place in a risk-free migration,” said Pruger. CRA is in production with a couple of beta customers, one that has 6,000 seats.

Another new major feature is Native Workspace Backup & Restore in Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. This new feature eliminates the need for a third-party backup company. It enables native ability to perform and create backup schedules and restoration of workspaces.

The third new feature is multi-factor authentication for admin and Workspace users. This feature provides a dual-factor authentication for all logins, including the Cloud Workspace Management Suite web application, workspace and RemoteApp sessions. Second-factor requests are sent via SMS/text or email. Third-party MFA tools are also supported.

A handful of major feature upgrades were also announced. Here are a few:

  • Single-click software-defined data center in Azure and Google public-cloud infrastructure. Prior to this feature upgrade, manually spinning up a software-defined data center could take weeks. With the new single-click feature, MSPs fill out a form – that takes a few minutes – click a button, and within about an hour and a half, all of the servers, the network, the firewall and connections will all be spun up.

“The bonus benefit for MSPs is that it helps them meet committed spends to maintain their Microsoft and/or Google certifications and partnership levels,” said Pruger.

  • Dynamic resource allocation uses machine learning to dynamically provision resources on the fly, as well as to turn machines on and off. This feature benefits midsize to larger organizations, in particular, by improving the efficiency of the software-defined data center based on current usage.

  • Multi-tier/multi-entity data storage options allow customers to grant access of their shared-data folder to their partners. CloudJumper says that this feature is valuable to accountants, attorneys, real-estate agents and other organizations with multiple locations and clients.

Additional enhancements include: multi-time zone support by customer and server; dynamic application security added to AppServices; Azure virtual machines now utilize managed disk; customizable entity delete timing; and Workspace session server new-session block.
