Symantec Adds New Resources for Partners

At the Symantec Partner Engage conference, the security and storage company unveiled four new resources for channel partners. The resources include new demonstration capabilities, an expanded renewal program, a new specialization, and an online community. Here are the details.

Among the highlights from Symantec:

  • SymDemo – An online demonstration tool to help partners show off Symantec products anywhere with an Internet connection. It’s currently available to participants in their PartnerDemo pilot program, with no set timetable for general availability.

  • Enhanced Enterprise Authorized Renewals Program – A streamlined renewals process that applies to enterprise renewals of NetBackup, Storage Foundation, Cluster Server and Enterprise Vault. It’s available now to Gold and Platinum partners in the United States and Canada.

  • Enterprise Security Specialization – Earning this specialization by proving a mastery of Symantec Protection Suite Enterprise Edition will entitle resellers to additional incentives, programs, and specialized content, as well as a notation in Symantec’s partner directory. It will become available to Symantec partners later this year.

  • Partner Community on Symantec Connect – Symantec has added a partner component to Connect, their existing message board/collaboration community portal, aimed at letting resellers talk to each other and Symantec. It’s available now.

Also at the conference, Symantec CEO Enrique Salem attempted to downplay SaaS (software as a service) and cloud hype, predicting a conservative 15 percent of Symantec’s revenue would come from SaaS within five years. Though that 15 percent does represent roughly $1 billion in annual revenues to Symantec.
