Sophos Global Channel Chief Chris Doggett has resigned to pursue an opportunity unrelated to security and the channel, according to a spokeswoman for the company. Moving forward, Director of Channel Sales Matt Fogelgren will be the top channel exec at Sophos, the endpoint security specialist. Seems like plenty of security channel chiefs have been on the move in recent months. Here’s the update.First, some background: Doggett joined Sophos in July 2006 and rapidly moved up the ladder, emerging as the company’s global channel chief in January 2010. More recently, Doggett helped Sophos to develop a partner program for MSPs — ensuring that managed services providers had a pay-as-you-go option for Sophos endpoint security solutions.
The transition from Doggett to Fogelgren should be a smooth one. Fogelgren joined Sophos in October 2008 as director of channel sales, and he’s been active on all channel matters at Sophos, which was acquired by a private equity firm in May 2010.
Meanwhile, Doggett is now executive VP at Financial Recovery Technologies, which specializes in outsourced claims processing services to investment management firms.
Security Evolution
It seems like security-focused channel chiefs have been on the move in recent months. Among the changes:
McAfee hired Cisco veteran Alex Thurber to serve as VP of Worldwide Channel Operations.
Lenovo veteran Stephen Mungall joined Trend Micro as VP of U.S. channel sales in June 2010.
Kaspersky Lab hired Dell and Trend Micro veteran Nancy Reynolds as senior VP of corporate sales in January 2010.
