Memo From Trend Micro: Small Business Macs Require Security

But as the Macintosh continues to gain momentum in small business, it’s time for VARs to promote better Mac security, according to Trend Micro. First, a little background: At first glance, Macs aren’t really targets for viruses. But look a little closer and you’ll find that “Macs have been known to harbor Windows-based malware… malware which could make its way from the Mac via file sharing on to Windows PCs,” notes the IT Security Expert blog in the UK. Moreover, some small business owners want data loss prevention (DLP) technology to ensure information doesn’t “leak” its way off company systems and onto USB thumb drives that somehow walk out the door.
