Kaspersky Lab CEO: IPO Is Possible...

Kaspersky Lab CEO Eugene KasperskyDuring the Kaspersky Lab Partner Summit, CEO Eugene Kaspersky (pictured, right) offered some hints about the company’s long-term financial strategy — and touched on the topics of potential acquisitions and a hypothetical initial public offering.

During a fireside chat with a Gartner analyst, Eugene Kaspersky said the company has no plans to sell itself. But he offered up these thoughts:

  • Is an IPO possible? Kaspersky said yes, and called on more than 100 partners in the room to help with the potential effort, if/when the wheels for a potential initial public offering started in motion. Earlier in the day, Kaspersky Lab COO Eugene Buyakin described the company’s rapid financial growth.

  • On a potential company sale: Kaspersky downplayed that possibility, stating that he really loved running the company.

  • On potential acquisitions: Kaspersky said that’s a possibility, but stated that any potential acquisitions would focus on security. The company has no plans to acquire appliance makers. Instead, Kaspersky Labs will continue to focus on embedded appliance partnerships.
