GTT To Embrace WBS Agent Program
Following its acquisition of WBS Connect LLC, Global Telecom & Technology Inc.(GTT) (GTLT), plans to embrace the WBS Connect agent program as a continuing source of revenue growth for the combined company.
GTT announced Tuesday it would acquire WBS Connect in a cash and stock deal. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year.
GTT operates its own agent program, and both programs will remain in place for the foreseeable future, according to Pete Feinberg, GTT’s vice president of marketing, who explained that no specific integration plans have been made so far and the groups most likely will coexist for a period of time.
Together the partner programs will count about 200 agents on their rolls, but Feinberg said some grooming of that base is anticipated. WBS Connect has about 120 agents; of those, more than half are active; meanwhile GTT’s agent program is about 80 agents strong, with approximately half of those active, he said.
“We also see considerable upside opportunity for the WBS Connect agents to add to their portfolio GTT’s global reach and international wide area network experience,” Feinberg said, noting WBS Connect agents tended to sell services primarily in North America. “Having delivered services in more than 80 countries worldwide, including developing regions in Africa, South and Central America, the Middle East and the Far East, GTT can offer agents access to international networks more efficiently and competitively than if the agents worked directly with a small handful of carriers.”
GTT has more than 800 supplier relationships worldwide, and offers agents access to a self-service, self-quote online portal.
