Tech Data has had quite a week, starting with a deal bringing ASUS’s All-In-One PCs, which include multi-touch technology, to the fold. The VAR Guy suspects multi-touch will become increasingly popular as Windows 8 rolls out. Tech Data’s moves with ASUS also are aligned with IDC figures that show AIO computers are becoming more popular. The ASUS ET2410 will be the first model available, with Tech Data adding others as the year rolls on. The distributor also added NEC LCD monitors, which are designed for digital signage use anywhere. Tech Data partners also will have access to NEC’s Content Management Software, which helps deliver on-the-spot information to those monitors. And if that wasn’t enough news, Tech Data also received a huge seal of approval from the ASCII Group, which bestowed its Best Distribution Sales Support award to Tech Data, praising its StreamOne licensing tool and “face-to-face” support.

Avnet and Ingram Micro have set dates for their finical earnings announcements. Avnet will report its Q1 2012 earnings Oct. 27, 2011, at 8 a.m. Eastern, while Ingram Micro will unleash its Q3 2011 results on the same day at 5 p.m. Eastern.

Lastly, Synnex Canada, the Canadian subsidiary of Synnex, ramped up its efforts in the mobile space with its new mECExpress e-commerce mobile application. Designed to be deployed on every major mobile platform, including webOS and BlackBerry, this Synnex-built application was built to handle UPC codes for easy e-commerce integration. Since it’s based in the cloud, Synnex said resellers can take their business anywhere they have a connection, which could be especially helpful for VARs with technicians doing service calls.
