Cisco Systems (CSCO) used its Cisco Live! 2015 conference to announced the addition of a whopping 35 new ISV partners to its growing Intercloud ecosystem, with the overall goal of boosting its cloud service offerings.
Each of the new partners will be focused into three specific areas, all of which will contribute to Intercloud, the networking company’s globally connected cloud network.
Partner solutions will be sold via the upcoming Intercloud marketplace, which Cisco plans to launch this fall.
ISVs recruited for the project are grouped into three areas, with partners focused on developing solutions for next-generation developer platforms, big data and analytics and Internet of Everything-ready cloud services. The first group of partners will focus on delivering cloud services to help customers focus on opportunities surrounding the Internet of Things, according to Cisco.
Each of the ISV categories are broken down as follows:
- Next-generation developer platform ISVs will focus solutions to make cloud developer environments part of the Intercloud ecosystem, with Cisco pledging to expand its work into open source communities like OpenShift and Cloud Foundry. An additional DevNet initiative will focus on helping to enable a developer community.
- Big data and analytics-centric ISVs will be tasked with developing a hybrid implementation for enterprise big data solutions to make the cloud a “natural extension” of existing on-premise practices.
- Internet of Everything cloud service ISVs will have access to Cisco APIs to enable network control, performance and security to be delivered from the data center directly to the device, according to the company. Cisco also promised to provide developers and enterprises with the ability to integrate developer APIs and micro-services into their own services and applications.

Until now, Cisco has had a difficult time getting its cloud ecosystem off the ground, but has pledged to differentiate its program by helping ISV partners to establish relationships with both Cisco’s channel partners as well as the channel partners of the various IaaS and PaaS technology partners working with the networking provider.
Additional developers should be announced as Cisco approaches the launch data for the Intercloud marketplace.
