Avnet Snapping up Repair Services Provider Nexicore

In case Avnet wasn’t already big enough, the distribution company has set its sights on Nexicore Services, a company that provides on-site installation and repair of various electronic equipment. The super-quick rundown on the acquisition details are all here. All you need to do is read on …

Once Neixcore Services are assimilated, Avnet plans on adding its offerings to Avnet Integrated Resources. Steve Church, president of Avnet Integrated Resources, said Nexicore can provide the infrastructure to:

“… build our capabilities in the aftermarket services business as we deliver on our strategy to expand into adjacent businesses. Nexicore’s breadth of services and experienced employees complement our existing lifecycle management operations.”

So why Nexicore Services in particular? According to Avnet’s release, Nexicore has entered into Chapter 11 bankruptcy, but its reach across North America and Canada is considerable and deep, including services offerings for governmental and retail businesses. Avnet plans to offer Neixcore’s 500-or-so employees positions within Avnet Integrated Resources. Once the entire acquisition is complete, Avnet is banking on Nexicore resources to help drive its “reverse logistics and aftermarket services” globally, according to the distributor.

But before anything happens, Avnet will have to wait for an okay from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, which Avnet expects will be completed in, at most, 120 days. Because of this stipulation, absent is any speculation on whether Avnet will see this acquisition as accretive to any earnings or revenue in the future, nor the price of the acquisition.
