Vyatta Partners With Sourcefire
Vyatta is partnering with Sourcefire in an effort to boost security and network protection. It’ll be rolled into the Vyatta PLUS suite. Here’s the scoop…
In case anyone forgot, Vyatta claims they’re the open-source alternative to Cisco, with the ability to run their network OS on plain x86 boxes, while also implementing it on virutalization and cloud solutions. So enter Sourcefire, which brings their Intrusion Prevention System into Vyatta’s existing threat protection. Updates will come from Sourcefire, too, using their Vulnerability Research Team, so that Vyatta customers are constantly protected.
Vyatta sees this as a win by adding yet another layer of “proactive protection” to their offerings. It’ll be packaged as a Vyatta PLUS add-on security module, allowing users to respond to hacking, threats and vulnerabilities. You can get your hands on Vyatta PLUS Sourcefire VRT with the Vyatta Subscription Edition Network OS for $249 per system per year.
