Xtium has added a technology executive veteran with prior experience in field operations, marketing, partner alliances and sales to lead its growth in the United States, Canada and Latin America.

The King of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based managed cloud hosting, online backup and virtual disaster recovery services company this week named David Rode as its CEO and chairman of its board of directors.

Rode has already established several short- and long-term goals for Xtium. An Xtium spokesperson told Talkin’ Cloud that Rode is looking to add management talent “who will help take the company to the next level.” Rode also will create a customer advisory board that is designed to help the company identify adjacent value-added services that it will pursue in the second half of 2015.

Rode previously served as senior vice president of sales for 1E, a London-based software company, and is expected to lead Xtium’s growth strategy.

“By bringing on a new CEO with tremendous operational experience, we are making the right move to ensure we scale to win in this business,” Scott Maxwell, managing partner at Xtium investor OpenView Venture Partners, said in a prepared statement. “David’s expertise leading highly successful global sales and marketing efforts at international software companies will prove integral to Xtium’s mission in capitalizing on the cloud services market opportunity.”

Rode replaces Tim Buckley, who originally joined Xtium as its CEO in September 2012 and will remain on Xtium’s board.

Xtium currently is the only enterprise service company that is certified to deliver Riverbed (RVBD), SAP (SAP) and VMware (VMW) technologies, and Rode said he expects Xtium to become a “significant player” in the Cloud 2.0 space.

“I am absolutely committed to providing world-class service to Xtium’s existing clients as well as executing a growth plan that fuses high-value managed services with the latest cloud technologies,” Rode added.

Xtium has made several major changes this year, and Rode’s addition could help the company move closer to achieving its long-term goals.

The managed cloud hosting, online backup and virtual disaster recovery services company this year has launched a new website and announced partnerships with value-added reseller (VAR) LANStatus and IT services provider SHI.

Rode said he wants Xtium to transform how medium-sized companies leverage the cloud.

“Xtium will become a leader in helping medium-sized companies rationalize, consolidate and optimize their IT infrastructure before we connect our cloud to their company,” he said. “Once we have accomplished this, then Xtium will provide the most reliable approach for the ongoing management of on-site and hosted IT services.”
