Intel KVM Gateway Console Offers Remote Troubleshooting

A new standalone console product from Intel (INTC) is intended to help IT managers and channel partners use a single console to remotely diagnose and troubleshoot IT devices no matter which vendor the hardware is manufactured by.
The Intel Datacenter Manager: Virtual KVM Gateway was designed as a standalone console version of its cross-platform keyboard-video-mouse (KVM) application. Sold direct by Intel and its through its network of channel partners, DCM: Virtual KVM Gateway provides remote control capabilities for securely configuring and fixing a variety of compatible components, including servers, network switches and storage devices.
According to Intel, the new product supports up to 50 simultaneous sessions even if the device operating system is not functioning.
Developed for remote troubleshooting of devices found within the data center, DCM: Virtual KVM Gateway has several key features, including:
- Device management API for out-of-band and in-band device discovery, identification, hierarchy management and more. It provides the capability for device management through Web Service API.
- Remote console management API, which enables the management of virtual KVM consoles from multiple servers across different OEM vendors through Java applet APIs and JSON-based web APIs.
- Reference graphical user interface, which was designed to provide admins and partners with a simple and functional web interface that implements the remote console management usage. It provides a graphical user interface source code for ISV integration reference.
For VARs, it should provide an easier way to remotely configure and troubleshoot their own data centers, as well as those they’re managing for their customers.
