“Technology is only as powerful as the people trained to use it, so we are helping organizations understand the changes, so they can more easily invest in their people to become master Cisco technologists and deliver on business objectives,” said Lisa Jones, global product director for Cisco at Global Knowledge.

Cisco’s certification news fell into three buckets: a single community for network professionals and software developers; the addition of DevNet certifications in Cisco’s certification program and training, designed for both the network professional and software developer; and the DevNet Automation Exchange, a shared code repository.

Global Knowledge’s new Cisco Cert 2020 location explains changes in Cisco’s certification framework, maps the new certifications and aligns them to the up-to-date training courses.

For starters, Cisco pros should know that the company introduced new training and certifications in five key technology tracks and introduced DevNet as a new focus area.

Here’s more info Cisco released on the new certifications:

  • New DevNet certifications to validate software professionals with DevNet Associate, DevNet Specialist, and DevNet Professional certifications — all intended for software developers and network engineers who develop applications and automated workflows for operational networks and infrastructure.

  • Streamlined Cisco certifications to validate engineering professionals with Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Specialist certifications as well as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) in enterprise, data center, service provider, security and collaboration.

  • The expansion of Cisco Networking Academy offerings to train entry -evel network professionals and software developers. Courses prepare students to earn Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Certified DevNet Associate certifications.

Global Knowledge provides IT pros with detailed insight on the six new technology tracks (five network infrastructure plus the new DevOps) including key program updates such as exam availability, new course rollouts, recertification options and retirement dates for current exams.

Cisco also offers comprehensive information for IT pros on the program updates, certifications, training, recertification and how to stay informed.
