Axcient Expands Storage Partner Push Beyond MSPs to VARs
Axcient, a cloud storage provider, is adjusting its channel partner program to push beyond MSPs and to more aggressively engage VARs and resellers. Axcient’s strategy reinforces a subtle but important shift in the IT channel, where a growing number of MSP-centric software companies are now reaching out to more traditional VARs and resellers.
Axcient specializes in data backup, business continuity and disaster recovery services. The market segment is more commonly known as BDR (Backup and Disaster Recovery) to MSP-centric folks. Axcient generated considerable buzz in 2011, building a close working relationship with Hewlett-Packard and promoting its cloud services primarily to MSPs.
Now, the Axcient Partner Program is evolving to include multiple tiers for MSPs and VARs. According to a prepared statement:
“As the [partner] program is fully rolled out in 2012, its three membership tiers – Partner, Premier Partner, and Elite Partner – will reward partners at every level. As partners move from one tier to the next, their rewards and access to benefits increase, based on their new status within the program. As a 100% channel-focused company, Axcient is committed to supporting partners from the time they sign on through full maturity.”
On the one hand, that statement doesn’t offer “deep” details on each tier and potential benefits to partners. But on the other, The VAR Guy hopes to touch base soon with Axcient CEO Justin Moore to discuss the program in greater detail.
Meanwhile, Axcient continues to more fully leverage its relationship with HP, launching an HP/Axcient Cloud Roadshow that runs from now through at least mid-march.
No doubt, the BDR storage market is packed with rivals. But Axcient sounds like it’s in growth mode…
