Avnet, Ingram Micro Show Cisco UCS Servers More Love
Back in May 2010, we noted that major distributors were embracing Cisco’s Unified Computing System — which converges servers, storage and networking in the data center. That trend continues this week, with Avnet and Ingram Micro, respectively, promoting new Cisco UCS server efforts to VARs and channel partners. Here are the details.
The high-level highlights include:
- Ingram Micro U.S. has earned the new Cisco UCAC certification (Unified Computing System C-Series Authorized Configurator) and is the first broadline IT distributor to configure and debut Cisco’s C series server to the IT channel, the distributor claims.
- Avnet Technology Solutions has been certified as a Cisco Unified Computing System C-Series Authorized Configurator (UCAC). This certification enables Avnet to configure pre-built base Cisco Unified Computing Systems C-series servers by integrating processors, memory, hard drives and adaptors, accelerating customers’ time to market, Avnet says.
Hmmm… Those announcements sound strikingly similar, don’t they? I’m curious to see how distributors plan to differentiate as they try to differentiate their Cisco UCS strategies from one another.
