Astaro Offers Wireless Access Point Management
Astaro is at it again, looking to provide “wireless without compromises.” Specifically, Astaro has introduced a new way for VARs to manage customer access points without spending big coin. But what’s the real deal? Read on and find out…
Astaro’s claim to fame is UTM (unified threat management) appliances. A new Astaro Wireless Security option updates any Astaro Security Gateway with the ability to managed wireless networks. Astaro is looking to do away with dedicated wireless appliances and plans on selling the Wireless Security option on a subscription-based service.
Astaro, of course, also will sell you the wireless access points that compliment the new subscription. What’s more, Astaro notes that because your existing appliance is just being upgraded, the access points “seamlessly” integrate with the existing security policy you’ve already implemented inside the UTM, giving the wireless connection the same level of security as though they were hard-lined devices.
Encryption, central management and 802.11n are all standard features in Astaro’s package. Check out some more details in the press release when it’s up.
