Pondurance Targets MSPs with New Partner Program

Pondurance already has signed four MSPs.

Pondurance, a provider of managed detection and response (MDR) security services, has launched a referral partner program for MSPs designed to allow them to “quickly and easily” deliver cybersecurity protection for their customers.

Pondurance says its security analysts are like extended team members for their MSPs in hunting, identifying and remediating any cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities. Partners also can extend their offerings with Pondurance’s consulting services, which address compliance, information security and business continuity.

Mike Childs, Pondurance’s sales operations manager, tells us this is his company’s first formal partner program, although it has worked with service providers on an ad hoc basis for a few years. Pondurance already has signed four MSPs and plans to grow that number to 12 partners in targeted U.S. regions by the end of 2019, he said.

“The people behind cyberthreats aren’t just going after big enterprises to monetize criminal activities,” he said. “In fact, they find their efforts are more lucrative at the midmarket level. And the companies in those smaller markets don’t have the staff and financial resources to fully protect themselves. The resource shortage is only predicted to get worse. This need is not only driving demand for MDR, but also presents an opportunity for companies like Pondurance, which can provide those services.”

Partners are selected based on a number of criteria including annual revenue, client type and size, and workplace culture, according to the company.

“It’s a big opportunity for MSPs with the demand in the market,” Childs said. “A lot of partners we’re talking to are realizing security is becoming more important to their clients. Most tried to deliver security along with traditional managed IT services, but launching a security practice is difficult, and it’s not necessarily an area where technology staff can simply learn on the job. MSPs must cultivate security expertise in-house or hire talent and find ways to deliver these services. Pondurance is exploring the expansion of the partner opportunity in 2020 through licensing agreements with those MSSPs that have an interest in creating or expanding their security operations center (SOC) capabilities.”

Advanticom is one of the four MSPs that has joined the program, and is working with multiple Fortune 500 companies.
