Palo Alto Networks Unleashes New Cloud Security Suite
Palo Alto Networks on Wednesday unveiled a new cloud security suite designed to give customers what they need to consistently govern access, protect data and secure applications.
Prisma builds on the success of Palo Alto’s cloud security products, and with about 9,000 enterprise customers, it has quickly become the largest cloud security business in the world, the company said.
Varun Badhwar, Palo Alto’s senior vice president of products and engineering for public cloud, tells us his company’s continued investment in cloud security technologies strengthens the offerings that partners can provide to their customers.
“Our Prisma offerings cover the broadest set of cloud security use cases spanning from securing access from branch and mobile, to securing access and data in SaaS applications to securing the whole development pipeline for public cloud,” he said.
The suite consists of four key components:
- Prisma Access, which secures access to the cloud for branch offices and mobile users anywhere in the world with a scalable, cloud-native architecture, blending enterprise-grade security with a globally scalable network.
- Prisma Public Cloud, which provides continuous visibility, security and compliance monitoring across public multicloud deployments.
- Prisma SaaS, a multimode cloud access security broker (CASB) service that allows SaaS application adoption.
- VM-Series, the virtualized form factor of the Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewall that can be deployed in private and public cloud computing environments.
Prisma Access’ streamlined cloud management user interface (UI) enables rapid onboarding of branches and users, which will improve operational efficiencies for partner sales, Badhwar said. It also will enable partners to rapidly provision secure outbound internet connectivity, increasing time to value for their customers, he said.
“MSSP partners can leverage a new, intuitive, cloud-delivered common management interface that ensures a simple and consistent user experience across the Prisma suite to deliver managed cloud security services to our mutual customers,” he said. “We are committed to providing partners a distinct advantage at driving value, managing costs and an opportunity to help customers lead a more secure digital life.”
Prisma Access, Prisma Public Cloud, Prisma SaaS and the VM-Series are available now.
“Our approach to cloud security is aimed at delivering the best security while embracing the unique needs of the cloud,” said Lee Klarich, Palo Alto’s chief product officer. “We provide customers with complete visibility as well as recommended configurations across their entire cloud environment to ensure a strong security posture from the start and consistently prevent attacks.”
