Netsurion Doubles Partner Count, Goes Beyond Threat Prevention

  • Written by Edward Gately
  • January 29, 2020
MSPs are starting to understand that preventative technologies are not enough.

Netsurion, a provider of managed network connectivity, security and compliance solutions in the SMB cybersecurity market, doubled its number of channel partners last year and plans to continue to emphasize enabling partners to sell cybersecurity solutions in 2020.

The company doubled the number of endpoints under management via MSPs. It also has expanded relationships with VARs to deliver its secure branch networking solution to multi-unit businesses as well.

This brings the total number of partners delivering their own security operations center (SOC) as a service through Netsurion to more than 500.

Guy Cunningham, Netsurion‘s vice president of channel and alliances, tells us MSPs are beginning to understand a few key things: preventative technologies aren’t enough, they must be able to detect when something gets past the prevention layer; building a SOC, which is required for detection services, is a hugely expensive proposition; and technology is “only a piece of the puzzle — people and process are just as important.”

“Even MSSPs are finding themselves negatively affected by the shortage of skilled cybersecurity resources,” he said. “Netsurion provides a platform that allows MSSPs to grow their business without having to grow their staff. We also enable MSSPs to upskill their existing resources, which creates loyalty and increases their ability to delivery higher value services.”

Netsurion offers a blend of cybersecurity technology, network management and managed services to provide IT resellers and MSPs with the tools to help SMBs fight off the mounting epidemic of data breaches.

“By partnering with Netsurion, our partners (MSP, MSSP or VAR) are able to provide their customers a complete solution (robust technology, skilled people and defined processes),” Cunningham said. “The majority of our competitors only offer technology, leaving the partner, or the customer, to figure out how to provide the people and the process.”

The new relationships formed in 2019 include Synnex for distribution, along with many independent VARs. Others include Softchoice, plus MSSPs like Infogressive and Clarium, and several security-minded MSPs, including Immedion, Logically and RetroFit Technologies.

In addition to working directly with partners, Netsurion also built technology alliances to advance cybersecurity convergence, including a new integration between Netsurion Managed Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and documentation platform provider IT Glue, which provides MSPs with access to streamlined reports that detail customer security and compliance postures.

“The biggest security issue facing SMBs is that they don’t have the ability to implement a detect and respond capability,” Cunningham said. “Every SMB, and most MSPs, have overinvested in preventative technologies (firewall, antivirus, intrusion prevention, etc.), and are underinvested in the ability to detect when something gets past those preventative layers. Netsurion enables MSPs to provide a cost-effective way to detect and respond to those threats that have successfully evaded their prevention technologies.”

“Cybersecurity has become one of the most critical business imperatives for all organizations as companies are facing an unprecedented volume of cyberthreats,” said Chris Pratapas, Softchoice‘s director of business development for security. “But at the same time, customers are facing a skills gap while dealing with a constantly changing threat landscape. This is where Softchoice works closely with Netsurion to address these challenges for our customers. Netsurion’s managed SIEM, SOC as a service provides our customers with actionable insights as well as predictable costs, making them an ideal partner to ensure our joint customers have a strong security infrastructure in place.”
