Cowbell Cyber Adds MSSPs to Connect Partner Program

MSSPs' clients are asking for advice about cyber insurance.

Cowbell Cyber, the AI-powered cyber insurance provider for SMBs, has extended its Cowbell Connect partner program to include MSSPs.

Cowbell Connect will provide MSSPs access to Cowbell Factors, Cowbell Insights and the AI-powered risk intelligence that anchors Cowbell’s underwriting. The partner program launched in February.

MSSPs operate as frontline protection for their clients, especially in the SME market, the company said. The program enables MSSPs to be better prepared, both technically and financially, to meet evolving threats.

Here’s our most recent list of important channel-program changes you should know.

As part of Cowbell Connect for MSSPs, partners have access to Cowbell’s continuous risk assessment services. This allows MSSPs to:

  • Access their customers for risk quantification and industry peer benchmarking.
  • Gain deeper insights into customers’ risks and take steps to mitigate any exposed security weaknesses using Cowbell Insights.
  • Connect their customers with Cowbell’s network of 6,000 insurance agents and brokers for cyber insurance coverage.

Managing Cyber Risk Includes Security and Insurance

“MSSPs and Cowbell have the same goal — to keep our customers safe from cyber threats,” he said. “MSSPs work every day to make their customers secure. And they are keenly aware of the damage that a successful cyberattack can inflict. They know that even the best security cannot stop all attacks. Therefore, MSSPs understand that successfully managing cyber risk needs to include both security and insurance.”

MSSPs’ clients are asking them for advice about cyber insurance, Gupta said.

“Cowbell has the ability to invite MSSPs to the Cowbell platform to view their customers through the eyes of a cyber insurance provider,” he said. “We provide them with the same tools used by our brokers and underwriters to help them understand their customer’s cyber risk profile. We have been incorporating the feedback from MSSPs into our continuous release cycle as we improve our technology and cyber insurance product every day.”

Lowering Customers’ Risk

By working directly with MSSPs, Cowbell aims to lower customers’ cyber risks, Gupta said.

“Ultimately, a better risk profile leads to lower premiums — creating a true win-win-win scenario for the MSSP, the insured and for Cowbell,” he said.

Cowbell saw a rise in cyberattacks associated with U.S. workers adopting remote work in response to the pandemic, Gupta said.

“Unlike traditional underwriting for cyber, where risk exposures are assessed once a year at the time an insurance policy is issued, Cowbell is continuously monitoring over 600 risk signals in real-time so that customers know when their risk profile changes,” he said. “Cowbell’s MSSP partners have this information at hand immediately and are able to react accordingly.”

“We recognized early on that cyber insurance was very important for service providers,” he said. “Being part of Cowbell Connect for MSSPs makes the process of helping our clients obtain cyber insurance very quick and streamlined.”
