Will LANDesk Upgrade Target Managed Services Providers?
LANDesk continues to promote asset management software to corporate IT managers. But we keep hearing some chatter about LANDesk more aggressively targeting managed services providers as well. One prime example: The new LANDesk Asset Lifecycle Manager 5.0 could let MSPs to manage, update and protect customers’ hardware and software assets. Here’s a look at the strategy.
According to LANDesk, the new offering lets IT departments and MSPs organize and aggregate data, maintain a service history for each asset, execute automated work-flows, control the information in each user’s interface and access full audit history that tracks status changes, actions, times, people and dates.
LANDesk Asset Lifecycle Manager 5.0 also includes a “test-to-live” feature intended to help companies move from a test environment to a live environment more smoothly.
LANDesk was acquired by a private equity firm in 2010. Some MSPs certainly run LANDesk, but the company is better known in corporate IT environments. At the time of the buyout, LANDesk said it had been growing at a compound annual growth rate of 20 percent since 2002.
