StillSecure Inks Partnerships, Pushes into Managed Security Services
Network security specialist StillSecure has partnered with a pair of companies — CoreSite and XO Communications — to help push its security solutions into the managed security service provider space (MSSP), according to StillSecure Chief Architect Dave Greenstein (pictured). CoreSite and XO will develop the infrastructure needed for StillSecure to deploy its services.
“We’re targeting small and medium-sized businesses (SMB’s) within the MSP space. That’s the sweet spot for security,” said Greenstein. Since 2000, StillSecure has been delivering security computing solutions and gaining recognition for its network access control system. About three years ago, the company tried to push its product into the small to medium-sized business (SMB) space but didn’t garner the interest it had anticipated.
“We found that they [SMB’s] were interested, but they weren’t ready for our service,” said Greenstein. So StillSecure went out and acquired ProtectPoint — a well-established managed security service provider (MSSP) — to help build what Greenstein calls “complete security solutions.”
Now the goal for StillSecure is to get data centers and cloud providers to adopt their security solution, and so far so good. In the last six months, StillSecure has doubled the number of clients using its security solutions. In the next 12 months, the company is looking to triple that figure.
The key, says Greenstein, is offering a comprehensive service for both the cloud and for physical applications. “Other security system companies give clients a menu of features to choose from,” he said. “But we complete the picture.”
The primary focus of the new service is to provide greater cloud security — a space where StillSecure sees great opportunity. “There are serious gaps in cloud security right now,” said Greenstein. StillSecure is looking to fill those gaps with its new comprehensive service that includes a 24 x 7 x 365 network operations center (NOC), PCI compliance services and spam and content filtering just to name a few. It’s one of the few companies I’ve encountered that’s 100 percent focused on network security and not on data backup and other MSP services. So far, SMB’s are buying into the model.
