Skyping for Managed Services Dollars
During the Kaseya Connect User Conference, ConnectWise CEO Arnie Bellini and former managed service provider Gary Pica are walking attendees through some best practices for lead generation and sales. Bellini’s tip of the day: Put Skype on notebooks and let salespeople work where they need to work.
To be sure, Skype can transform laptops into soft phones. Bellini notes that salespeople often don’t like working in cubicles. Nor do they like being overheard as they try to book meetings and close deals, Bellini added.
I’m not in sales, but I do know this: MSPmentor’s parent company (Nine Lives Media Inc.) depends heavily on Skype to help build relationships and drive new business, especially deals with international companies located in Europe and India.

This is an interesting thought. I used to work with a sales guy who would always find a small conference room to close off and solely use when he had to make anything more than prospecting calls. So I can see the use in Skype and virtual officing here. If managers want to extend these benefits to their sales team but still be able to monitor what’s going on through salesforce.com integration, call recording, and business presence monitoring, they should check out OnState at http://www.on-state.com, and try out the company’s Skype-based call center.

This has been a great tool for us. We have also been using it at a source of video conferencing between our two offices when we hold sales meetings or when people are telecommuting. Certainly can’t beat the price.

Real person here, Joe. Clearly biased toward a specific product, but very real.
