SAP Accelerates Mobility Play with Syclo Acquisition

Back in May of 2011, MSPmentor reported SAP‘s outline of its mobile technology plans, which were then revealed at the Sapphire conference in Orlando, Fla. Almost a year later, SAP has announced plans to acquire Syclo, a provider of enterprise mobile applications and technologies. As businesses increasingly adopt smart devices and enterprise mobility, SAP’s move seems to be logical.

Syclo‘s expertise in building and selling mobile solutions in industries such as utilities, oil and gas, life sciences and manufacturing, will enhance SAP mobile solutions, according to Syclo. In addition, Syclo has 600 customers in 39 countries across all major asset and mobile-intensive industries. With Syclo’s expertise in technology, SAP expects a more mature set of applications to assist SAP in key mobile areas.

With this acquisition, SAP seeks to drive growth and innovation in core applications, analytics, enterprise mobility, cloud and database and technology. Syclo’s apps will be integrated with the SAP mobile platform for mobile device management security. According to SAP, the combination of SAP and Syclo will create a unique solution provider in the industry with market-leading mobile enterprise applications integrated with a world-class business suite.
