First, a little background. Generally speaking, PacketTrap positions itself as a network-centric MSP platform rather than a PC- or server-centric solution. The company sounds like it has a strong following in North America. But going forward, PacketTrap will begin to leverage Quest’s international offices — including a location in Australia, according to Matt Bolton, VP of products for Quest‘s PacketTrap business. I suspect the effort will include a road show in Australia as well, plus some eventual moves in Europe.

Meanwhile, PacketTrap and Quest continue to connect the dots between their various software offerings. Although many MSPs have yet to discover Quest, the company’s broader software portfolio generates nearly $700 million in annual revenues.

Already, Quest has connected the dots between PacketTrap and Quest’s ScriptLogic business. More PacketTrap integration points are coming, and will likely include Quest specialties like server and desktop virtualization, and management specialties focused on Windows, Active Directory, SharePoint, and various databases.
