OneAccess Releases ‘Fast’ NFV Solution for MSPs
OneAccess, a provider of carrier-grade physical and virtualized network functions (VNFs), today released a series of ready-to-go tools for service providers, enabling streamlined deployment of network function virtualization (NFV).
The launch includes a one-box, Open Virtualization Platform (OVP), based on standard protocols, which can be programmed to serve as the foundation for hosting, chaining and managing VNFs made by OneAccess and other vendors.
In addition, OneAccess released a catalog of scalable, carrier grade VNFs, including a vRouter, session border controller, WAN optimization controller and VPN services.
The VNFs use industry-standard APIs that allow their integration in a virtualized data center, and with various white-boxes. They can also be incorporated into service bundles with additional VNFs from OneAccess and other vendors.
OneAccess officials said their products are in use by 28 of the world’s top 100 service providers, and that during trials and proof of concept (POC) testing, several major operators described the new tools as among “the most technically advanced NFV offerings available today.”
“We have a long history of responding to the needs of large communications and other network providers and that’s precisely what we have done with our virtualization solutions,” said Pravin Mirchandani, chief marketing officer at OneAccess. “Network operators and CSPs have told us they want a catalog of compact, efficient, carrier-grade VNFs delivered on an open, standards-based platform that allows them to stay in control.”
“They want the ability to integrate third-party network functions as they see fit,” he continued. “Plus, they need a phased approach to NFV migration, at a pace which they define.
“This is what we’re delivering today: fast network virtualization.”
The NFV tools are fully compatible with OneAccess’ white-box customer premises equipment (CPE) that runs various VNFs and can be integrated with modern MSP management systems using NETCONF and YANG.
The combined solution provides users with cost-saving appliance consolidation, interoperability to facilitate partnerships with multiple VNF vendors, scalability, and the flexibility to easily adjust service offerings.
“We have reached the final stages of POC trials and been shortlisted with major operators in North America and Europe, and are at intermediate stages with several other CSPs and partners,” Mirchandani said.
“During these tests, we have demonstrated interoperability with a leading NFV orchestrator and service chaining with third-party VNFs on our own Open Virtualization Platform white-box CPE, as well as other NFVI environments,” he said. “We’re told we are well ahead of the game.”
OneAccess will demonstrate the technology on Thursday at the NFV World Congress show, being held today through Friday in San Jose, Calif.
