MSPs Not Falling for Apple -- Yet

As Apple marches forward in the consumer market, we decided to check in with MSPs to see if they're increasingly specializing in Apple products and/or Apple-related services. So far, major MSP and VAR peer groups -- like HTG Peer Groups -- say they aren't seeing an uptick in demand for Apple-oriented solutions. But if you look hard enough there is a small Apple MSP niche. Here's some perspective.

In the PC market, some reports show that Apple now has 12 percent market share, up a rather impressive 3 percent since last year. But so far, Apple's growing momentum doesn't appear to be greatly influencing most MSPs.

HTG founder Arlin Sorensen says the peer group organization isn't seeing overwhelming demand for Mac-oriented managed services. But he noted Kaseya has introduced Mac support.

Still, there seems to be a small niche of Apple-centric MSP offerings. Apple itself offers a remote management system for Macs. And Maccius, a solutions provider in San Jose, Calif., positions itself as an MSP serving the Apple platform. We'll be checking in with them for more perspective in the days ahead.
