MSPBanter: What Can MSPs Learn From This Year's Mobile World Congress?

This year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona has come and gone. More than 93,000 visitors from over 200 countries attended MWC, and there was plenty of news that broke at the event, too.

In fact, managed service providers (MSPs) could be affected by some of MWC’s biggest newsmakers.

What can MSPs learn from MWC? Here are five MWC stories you need to know:

ManageEngine Launches Free EC2 Manager Android App at Mobile World Congress

ManageEngine has released EC2 Manager, a free Android app that allows IT administrators to monitor the health and performance of Amazon Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2) instances remotely. The enterprise IT management software provider also has released a free desktop tool for EC2 management that monitors unlimited EC2 instances.

Site24x7 Launches Mobile APM Beta

Cloud infrastructure monitoring service Site24x7 has launched a beta version of Mobile Application Performance Management (APM), a feature that is designed to help mobile developers proactively manage their apps. Mobile APM provides complete visibility into mobile application behavior, Site24x7 said, and can help these developers control app performance issues.

AT&T, Microsoft Unveil Mobile Office Suite

AT&T (T) and Microsoft (MSFT) unveiled AT&T Mobile Office Suite, a cloud-based, mobile collaboration solution. Mobile Office Suite is available in the United States and delivers “fast, easy and highly secure access to voice calls, email, calendars, instant messaging, HD video conferencing, desktop sharing, file sharing and more,” according to AT&T.

AVG Surpasses 200 Million Users Worldwide

AVG Technologies (AVG) has officially surpassed 200 million users globally. Additionally, the online security company launched AVG Business Secure Sign-On (SSO), a solution that leverages Centrify‘s identity management technology to help businesses control their employees’ cloud applications and mobile devices.

Cisco Unfurls Network Analytics Application in the Cloud

Cisco Systems (CSCO) has announced Mobility IQ, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) analytics solution that is designed to provide MSPs with network insights. This solution is hosted on Cisco Cloud Services, Cisco said, and could enable service providers to “identify and capitalize on new business opportunities and deliver exciting new experiences to their customers.”

Of course, other news broke at this year’s MWC as well.

So now the question becomes: What are some of the other MWC news stories that are worth mentioning?
