Last year was a big one for MSP 501 veteran NetGain Technologies. In December of 2018, Bay Area investor Evergreen Services Group purchased NetGain Technologies, a key play designed to implement a spread of strategically-positioned, regionally-based MSPs. The buy was part of Evergreen’s approach to investing in companies for the long-term and allowing them to operate independently.

“Our partnership with Evergreen Services Group positions NetGain to achieve those organic growth initiatives while also providing the resources to grow inorganically through strategic partnerships,” says NetGain CEO Tim Burke.

This momentum has spurred NetGain to step up their game, paying closer attention to details such as the people, processes and systems that improve service delivery —all for the good of the customer.

Here, Burke talks about the current technological ecosystem, NetGain’s multi-office footprint and the impact of their recent partnership with Evergreen Services Group.

Channel Futures: In this ever-changing technological ecosystem, where do you see your biggest growth areas in the next year or two?

Tim Burke: The best way to grow is to deepen relationships with and provide exceptional services to our current customer base, invest heavily in the people within our organization and search diligently for the right new team members to join the NetGain family. It’s also about pushing ourselves to be at the cutting edge of a technological ecosystem that’s constantly in flux, and searching for new opportunities to help current and potential customers solve their business problems more efficiently.

Our partnership with Evergreen Services Group has helped NetGain in achieving those organic growth initiatives. As a team, we are excited to pursue aggressive growth goals in the coming years.

CF: With growth comes different levels of competition. How does NetGain differentiate itself from other MSPs?

TB: NetGain Technologies is the largest managed services provider in the South Central U.S. Our multi-office footprint, breadth of skillset across the technology spectrum, organizational culture and family-first environment are our biggest differentiators.

It’s our expertise that gives us an edge. With 90 engineers and technicians, who hold 250 technical certifications, and our state-of-the-art, 24x7x365 network operations center, we are able to deliver best-in-class managed IT service to businesses across the region. In addition, our staff of specialty engineers, with expertise in business-critical areas such as security, deliver high-quality area oversight, project and product services to meet our client’s needs and fuel their organizational growth.

CF: There is an increasing interest in managed service providers among private equity groups and other potential investors. How has this impacted your business?

TB: Clearly, given our recent partnership with Evergreen Services Group, NetGain is not immune to this increasing interest. So often, there are negative stereotypes surrounding the post-deal dynamics following private equity or strategic investments. Despite expectations to the contrary, NetGain continues to run business as usual in the months since the transaction.

If anything, Evergreen encourages NetGain to continue investing in the people, processes and systems that improve service delivery for our current and ever-expanding customer base. Through NetGain’s experience with Evergreen, we have learned how critically important it is to be strategically aligned with any potential investor. NetGain has experienced the positive effects partnerships can have on business operations and value delivery to partners and clients.
