Lots of companies wait for the first service pack before jumping on a new version of software. For LabTech RMM users who are interested in the company's mobile device management capabilities that day has arrived. LabTech Software has updated its remote monitoring and management platform with version 2012.1, a service pack update focused on changes to further improve technician efficiency.
The additions come in response to feedback and requests from the company's partner community, according to CEO Matt Nachtrab, and also include enhanced VNC performance for optimized remote control, more integrations with third party products and enhancements to LabTech Ignite, an out-of-the-box automation tool. Plus, the company has fine-tuned its mobile device management capabilities that made their debut in the major version update to the RMM platform in April.
New MDM feature enhancements include data plan management, geo-location tracking, the ability for end-users to create tickets and upload screenshots, selective wipe of devices, and new out-of-the-box MDM reports.
LabTech Ignite also got more out-of-the-box functionality, including an optimized group structure, default service plans, mission-critical systems monitoring packs, industry-defined thresholds, auto-fix scripts, automated patch management, predefined searches and a simpler interface. A new plug-in lets certain areas of LabTech Ignite be turned on and off, so partners can customize the level of LabTech Ignite for their unique environments.
The following are some of the other LabTech 2012.1 enhancements:
- HitmanPro Integration enabling centralized control of instant malware scan and remediation activities,
- Multivendor backup management dashboard updates and Symantec Backup Exec integrations including an optimized scheduler and new integrations with Symantec Backup Exec 2012 backup,
- Multivendor antivirus management dashboard updates and Symantec Endpoint Protection integrations including performance enhancements to improve scalability and lower server impact,
- Integrated Intel vPro KVM support, which remotely connects to workstations in blue screen states or other states that would normally require a site visit to enable technicians to resolve issues and minimize client downtime.
