FAQ: What is Mobile Device Management?

MSPmentor is updating its Managed Services FAQ section again with some help along the lines of Mobile Device Management. MDM is a term that gets bandied about quite a bit these days as more workers bring their own smartphones and tablets (Apple iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android smartphones and tablets) onto the corporate network and more IT departments bow to the pressure of executives and workers wanting to “bring your own device” (BYOD) claiming greater productivity with these tools. But truth be told, MDM is a giant catch all term for a number of functions relating to managing mobile devices. What does it all mean?

MSPmentor took a bit of a deeper dive into some of the functionality around mobile device management in the MSPmentor FAQ. Here's a handy list of functions to help if you are just getting started with the concept of MDM or if you are deeper into evaluating vendors. Click through to see our list, and if you read through and have something to add, please do so in the FAQ comments.
