ePlus: From Managed Services to Cloud Services

Sponsored Video: ePlus Inc. is one of the best-known IT solutions providers working within the managed services market. During the company’s Q2 2010 quarter, ePlus revenues surged 35.8 percent to $234.5 million. But that doesn’t mean ePlus is resting on its laurels. Indeed, Director of Managed Services Tarun Sondhi is helping ePlus to push beyond managed services into the cloud services market. Sondhi describes the effort in this FastChat Video.

No doubt, ePlus has been earning headlines lately. The company in December 2010 was recognized as one of the world’s top VARs in the healthcare channel. And in October, the wholly owned subsidiary ePlus Technology Inc. completed a quadruple Cisco audit and received four re-certifications: Gold Partner, Master Unified Communications Specialization, Master Security Specialization, and Managed Services Master Certification.

Where to next? Sondhi points to potential cloud computing opportunities.

Sondhi says the company continues to invest heavily in virtualization — especially to help organizations reduce their carbon footprints. Also of note: Three key pillars of opportunity are unified communications, security and network solutions. Cloud-based solutions are a natural extension to those areas of expertise, Sondhi says. He sees virtualization, managed services and leasing practices as pathways to help customers transition from capital expenses to operational expenses.

For VARs that have yet to promote managed services and cloud services, Sondhi suggests focusing on (A) the right platform and (B) the right in-house talent. Without those two pieces in place you can’t be a trusted advisor to end customers, Sondhi asserts. Finally, Sondhi concedes ePlus can’t do everything on its own. The company is partnering with systems integrators and other VARs in order to get to market faster on certain opportunities.
