Data protection and information management solutions provider Commvault this week added remote managed services to its portfolio of offerings.

The new Commvault Remote Managed Services option allows customers of the firm’s software to engage directly with Commvault or a certified partner for remote management, instead of using in-house resources.

The new offering can provide customers with installation and configuration of Commvault software, backup, archiving, virtual infrastructure management, disaster recovery, analytics, eDiscovery, content indexing and search and endpoint backup.

“It was clear from conversations with customers that additional support options are important to their growth and business,” said David Ngo, director of managed services at Commvault.

“Now, our customers have the flexibility they need, whether that’s support from an internal team, a certified partner or through Commvault directly,” he said. “Commvault Remote Managed Services provide the IT support necessary to drive a results-oriented, SLA-based utility model that aligns with an organization’s business focus, without having to find and train internal personnel on new tools and technologies available in the marketplace.”

The managed services team can support all types of infrastructure and storage supported by Commvault software, and is vendor-neutral to virtual machines, hypervisors and cloud storage.

The Tinton Falls, N.J.-based firm will sell the service directly to customers and will also provide an offering to managed service resellers that have been certified through the Commvault Service Advantage Program.

“While Commvault’s platform and software portfolio is highly regarded within the industry for its simplicity and ease of use, some organizations prefer to have their data management environments run by dedicated third parties to free up their IT staffs and resources for company tasks – the new offering from Commvault now provides this option for us and our customers,” said Tim Nedom, senior solutions consultant at Integrated Archive Systems.
